How do I switch between CD-ROM and floppy drives on my laptop?
When I remove the CD-ROM drive from my laptop and insert the floppy drive I get a message saying that I need to STOP the hardware before removing it or I could lose data or corrupt files. How do I do this? Thanks in advance to anyone who answers my question.

What if the hardware isn’t connected with a USB? The devices just slide in and out of a tray in the front of the computer. I can’t find anywhere to stop the device or a hardware wizard where I can first stop the device before removing it.
There should be an icon in your system tray that allows you “safely remove hardware”. This works for USB devices as well as swappable devices such as floppy drives as CDROM drives. When you double-click that icon to open the safely remove hardware window, you’re presented with a list of devices. Click on the device you want to remove, then click “stop”. Once Windows stops the device and tells you it’s safe to remove, you can swap the drives.
