why won’t my HDD caddy work?
I took my old hard drive out of my ps3 and replaced it with a 250GB one.
However, after putting my old drive into a compatible caddy (enclosure). I found it will not connect to my PC. My PC has installed drivers for the caddy and “F: removable drive” appears in the ‘computer’ folder. However when I click it, I cannot access the drive.
I was given recommendations but these do not help either.
Does anyone know what I can do?

There are two USB’s coming out of a plug with a Mini USB that goes into the drive; thats another question I have, why are there two USB’s and why is the second a really short cable?
First, you should check if windows installed drivers for this HDD and is fully recognizable. Check your device manager for details (right click on my comp->properties-> (on the left you have “DEVICE MANAGER”)) under the Disk Drives you should have your caddy. Right click on the device and click properties. At the bottom of the recently opened window you will have a message telling you about the status of the device.
As much as I know the PS3 hard drive is formatted with the FAT32 filesystem which is fully recognizable by windows. I don’t know if SONY puts some kind of protection on those hardrives to prevent software counterfeitting.
The two USBs are for accessibility. It’s should be enough to plug in only one USB for the hardrive to work, but to be sure take the HDD in your hand and if you can feel a bit of shiverring then the unit is powered and functional.
