PDAs Even Come With GPS.

So now you just bought a new PDA right?
Now let me ask you one question, dows your PDA can support a GPS system?
If not, then I think you should re-consider for a new one. I mean the best one because PDA now has become one of the known gadgets for many people to install a GPS system in it.

If you don’t know what kind of PDA that can support GPS system, definitely I will recommend you this hp ipaq because you will not regret once you bought it. Well personally, I prefer to have 2 in 1 funtion that is PDA + GPS rather than use a single GPS gadget alone. it because some of the GPS devices can be quite bulky and I am not a person who are into that kind of style. I mean it’s not comfortable for me to carry them around.

The best thing about GPS is that I always can have an option if there is an accident ahead. I can look for an alternative road so that I’m not going to have my long day in my car. In fact, I never drive alone because there’s a “pretty voice” that accompany me wherever I go. The built in software interprets the GPS information into a series of spoken commands, like “Turn Left at the gas station” or “You’ve missed the turning, take the next right and turn around”. Sounds cute isn’t it?

Not only that, I also can find the places that I want to go easily. No matter where is the location, I still can find it because this tomtom one always give me the accurate maps and points of interest. Yes, it has course-planning functionality as well.

Dell Latitude Z First Laptop With Wireless Charging, $2000

With the Latitude Z, Dell claims to be the first with a laptop capable of charging without wires. Using what’s basically a larger version of the Palm Pre’s inductive charger, the Z draws power wirelessly when planted on a laptop stand that also double as the power transmitter. According to Dell, charging times should remain similar to the traditional wired setup. So let’s assume a 2-3 hour wait?

dell-latitude-z

Another key feature of the Z is the use of secondary hardware to support a touch-sensitive-driven instant-on mode. Great news, especially since previous incarnations of Dell’s instant-on modes were basically misnomers, as their reliance on the main CPU and motherboard meant longer startup times.

According to CNN, the Latitude Z represents Dell’s attempt to establish a wireless peripheral connectivity ecosystem. Aside from power, there are also plans to come out with inductive connectors for monitors and other devices.

The report’s glowing insistence that Dell is actually innovating smacks of friendly journalism. But at least it’s founded on truth, given that Dell’s known for checking out what the competition does and finding cheaper and more efficient ways to do it.

The Latitude Z, with it’s thin profile (14.5mm at the thinnest) and beveled back-end, should be available for corporate customers soon, with a starting price tag of $1999.

Prices for Windows 7 OEM Versions

If the “normal” retail prices for Windows 7 sounds a bit steep for you, you may want to consider the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) versions of the operating system scheduled for an October 22 release. The summary of Tom’s Hardware thus states:
Windows-7-Ultimate

Newegg is selling Home Premium for $100, while the retail price is $200. Those looking for the Professional version can get an even greater break as the OEM is $135, compared to $300 for the retail.Still not good enough? Then you can hand over $175 for the Ultimate SKU, which would cost $320 in stores.

What’s the difference between OEM and retail? Again from Tom’s: “OEM versions of Windows do not come without fancy boxes, manuals, packaging, or even tech support, but they do come with a lower sticker price.” OEM versions are also less versatile, in the sense that they’re basically tied to one motherboard. This means that, if you buy a new computer, you have to buy a new copy; it’s not legally permitted to uninstall the Windows 7 you installed on your old computer, then reinstall it on the new one.

That’s because OEM versions are meant for computer manufacturers, who are expected to provide said the tech support for the customer. And since makers will pre-install Windows 7 into their products, why the fancy boxes and other paraphernalia, right? In exchange for the lower price, Microsoft legally ties OEM copies to only one computer, as detailed above.

So if you’re planning to upgrade to Windows 7, should you buy an OEM copy? If you’re a particularly savvy customer used to diagnosing problems on your own as they crop up, I don’t see why not. Even retail copies are tied to one computer in a certain sense, as you have to uninstall 7 from the old computer before you can use it on the new one, no?

asus-eee-pc-1000he.jpg

Set-up for the 1000HE was incredibly easy. Had windows configured and my wireless network recognized in no-time. The keyboard is wonderfully easy to type on. The chiclet stle of thee keys allow more spacing and easy typing in long documents. The 1.3 mega pixel webcam works well with both picasa and messenger.

Let’s take a lok at the features:

# Operating System: Genuine Microsoft Windows XP
# Display: 10-inch LED-backlit widescreen LCD (1024×600)

# Dimensions: 10.47 (W) x 7.53 (D) x 1.12-1.50 (H) inches
# Weight: 3.20 lbs
# Color: Black

The 10 inch screen is very easy to see and its brightness is easily controlled using the function keys (as is volume control and wifi/bluetooth toggle on/off). The redesign of the keyboard is excellent, even the chiclet style keys. The keys make the keyboard feel much larger than it is and the placement of the right shift key is good also.

The ASUS Eee PC 1000HE comes with everything you want in a netbook in a relatively small form factor. The best features are the epic battery life and it’s relatively low price. You simply can’t get a more equipped notebook at this price. Don’t get the smaller, cheap, less equipped units. You will kick yourself for it.

Alienware Launches M15x laptop, Bills it Most Powerful 15-Incher

The first to make use of Intel’s recently launched mobile Core i7 chips (codenamed “Clarksfield”), the specs of the Alienware M15x indicate that the company’s marketing is right on target. No doubt maxing out the configuration will result in a $4000+ laptop. However, at the starting price of $1500, here’s what you get:
Alienware-M15x

  • 512MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M
  • Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6GHz (2.8 GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
  • 15.6-inch WideHD+ 1600 x 900 – WLED
  • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
  • 3GB DDR3 – 1066MHz
  • 250GB 5,400RPM
  • Internal Wireless Bluetooth 2.1+ Enhanced Data Rate
  • Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
  • Ports:
    • IEEE 1394a (4-pin) port
    • Integrated Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 (1000 Mbps)
    • 3 Hi-speed USB 2.0 ports (1 via USB 2.0 / eSATA combo port)
    • 1 eSATA (via USB 2.0 / eSATA Combo Port)
    • VGA, DisplayPort – Video Output
    • 8-in-1 Media Card Reader
    • ExpressCard Slot
    • 2 Audio Out Connectors
    • Audio In / Microphone Jack (retaskable for 5.1 audio)
    • Two Built-In Front Speakers
  • Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio
  • Intel WiFi Link 5300 a/g/Draft-n 3×3 MIMO
  • 6-cell battery

Impressive, though I think Alienware could’ve done better with the standard hard disk and battery. 250GB is definitely too small for enthusiasts nowadays, and 6-cell batteries are simply too weak to keep the action going away from the wall socket. Then again, this laptop isn’t exactly designed for typing out reflections at the neighborhood coffee shop, but then again, it’s nearly two inches thick when closed. Perhaps Alienware could’ve crammed more data and power capacity? In any case, the Alienware M15x is still a “portable” platform powerful enough to run practically any game or application on the market—most probably at a fast pace.
